Pool Side and Surfin Turf

I'm at the beach with mi familia for the last hoorah before i leave for australia. Once i come back the packing process will begin!...which i am not entirely looking forward to. i wish there were no restrictions on trips that were longer than 4months! it would make it so much easier to pack!
anyways, I love the beach and always will. i'm just soaking up the sun for all its worth which is actually good strategy because i can develop a great base tan so i wont get so fried down under.
We are staying on the 18th floor which provides for an amazing view but a huge wait for the elevator. However, i have decided to try and put into practice my little bit of extraverted skills and get to know people that i get stuck with on the elevator....haha they can't run away until the door opens...
speaking of elevators, i find it really funny how strangers will not look each other in the eye when riding. i got stuck with 3 boys all from a different floors on the way down once and all of them stared at the door, buttons or the ceiling. hahaha. i was deff. chuckling inside.
what's so wrong with engaging someone else that you don't know and who is in close proximity.in a conversation..granted that they aren't a creeper...but still it seems so unnatural for me and others to utter the first word....which always ends up being : "where are you from", or complaining about the elevator in some fashion. sometimes its been like we have been trying to play the game about how many human bodies we can fit into a confined space before someone starts freaking out or passing out.....and if you are like "Monk" you just keep thinking to yourself..."Lobby,Lobby, lobby.lobby..." and incessantly pressing the lobby button!
(if you don't get the reference, im sorry)
Anyways, a little rant on elevator riding is always good for the soul...and i still got a whole week to meet many more people in the most awkward way.
In other news, N. Korea better keep there hands to themselves so that they don't bomb the US and disrupt my plans for australia....i will be royally pissed if i cant go because all planes are suspended. Just something else to put into God's hands and pray about!
though, according to the ancient incas (i think) they predicted that the end of the world would happen in 2012....so we'll see.....hahaha
